Beatboxing with Julia Dales and AAA

Saturday March 10 at 2 p.m. - for all ages

Don't miss top beatboxers Julia and Ammar (known as Triple A), stars of the upcoming TV series Beats in Bites, which launches on TVOKids and around the globe this fall. Julia and Ammar will present a live interactive and creative beatboxing performance in the museum's new theatre. Be part of this cool show, experience lights and beats for your March Break!

Also featured on the big screen, will be two short National Film Board of Canada animation films, The Sweater, recounted by author, Roch Carrier and Sleeping Betty, by Claude Cloutier.

Beatboxing Workshop - for children age 7 and up

Get inspired by engine and jet sonic boom sounds as pros Julia and Ammar teach you how to create music through vocal beats. Pre-registration is required for the workshop, as only 40 spots are available for lucky participants. Register by calling 613-991-3053.

About the Artists

Julia Dales

Julia Dales is a world-renowned beatboxer, guitar player and singer-songwriter from Ottawa, Canada. At age six, Julia discovered and began to master the art of vocal percussion. Already a talented songwriter and guitarist, Julia began using beatboxing as a drum track to her original songs. Using an RC-50 loop pedal to combine her skills, Julia layers vocal instruments and guitar riffs to become a one-girl folk-pop band on stage. Her videos on YouTube have been recognized by numerous celebrities, including Ashton Kutcher and Justin Timberlake. She now has millions of YouTube views, thousands of subscribers and has appeared on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, iCarly and MTV.

AAA

Ammar Abou Agena has been beatboxing for 11 years and has done over 30 performances in Ottawa. He hosted a popular beatbox busking show downtown on Canada Day, and finished among the top 8 at the 2011 Canadian Beatbox Championships. He has made it into the semi-finals of Arab's Got Talent and will co-host Beats in Bites on TVOKids, which will be airing in 2012.
